Dear reader, welcome to this site, I sincerely hope you enjoy your visit and find the colours remedial. In all the years I've been painting its been a mission using paint etc' to express what I feel about the quality of light to be found in and around the UK. In the past I've resorted to many means to capture a moment of light which so often happens when driving along bunched up in traffic, I've used the camera, made rapid sketches in pastel, crayon, anything to recreate those all too rare fragments when nature turns on her lights, but nothing can compare with the experience of hurriedly putting up an easel, squeezing out tubes of paint, and starting work. Therefore here on this site are some of my more recent attempts to secure a mood using, oil, w/colour, and acrylic.

I also have a passion for the glorious English and Welsh landscape, with my current obsession being Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire.I avail myself of every opportunity to get out painting whether by bike, car, or sometimes striding the ridges of the serene wessex downs on foot. . Many of these paintings and more can be found on my sister site artshore, please click the link at the bottom of the page. And finally dear reader please remember the greatest free show on earth is the sky above your head, enjoy.

Ronald James Godwin is a painter working in oil, acrylic and watercolour media. He paints for the greater part directly from nature, sometimes using a miniature sketch box ( Pochade Box ) enabling him to paint in the most unlikely places. Much of what he has produced down the years, has been painted not only in the glorious British countryside, but also in situ from his own boats around the British coasts, and inland waterways. A good deal of this has been exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists annual show since 1970, the last being the year 2000. There have been close to 40 venues that have shown Ronald Godwin's work and many paintings are now in private collections.
